NXP Semiconductors N.V. , eleQtron and ParityQC, working together in the QSea consortium of the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI), today revealed the first full-stack, ion-trap based quantum computer demonstrator made entirely in Germany.

Yesterday, NXP Semiconductors together with two quantum start-ups, Electron and ParityQC, revealed the first full-stack, ion-trap-based quantum computer demonstrator made entirely in Germany, based on the collaboration results of the QSea project under the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative,. It is reported that the machine, which boasts 10 qubits, combines eleQtron’s MAGIC quantum chip, ParityQC architecture and NXP’s chip design and technology.

A new consortium consisting of ParityQC, DESY, eleQtron and the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) has successfully qualified for funding in the framework of the “Quantum Computing Funding Initiative” of the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg). In the HQML (Hamburg Full Stack Quantum Machine Learning) project, the companies and DESY are working together with the DLR QCI to develop a full stack quantum solution for image data processing. The consortium will cover the entire chain of innovation, from the specific application field to the development of the required novel algorithms. This is unique in Hamburg so far, and HQML is one of the first projects of its kind in Germany and worldwide.

The Quantum Computing Initiative (QCI) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) recently announced that its QCoKaIn application project has signed a research and development contract with Airbus Defence & Space. Airbus will work with the research team of the DLR Institute of Data Science to develop a hybrid quantum machine learning algorithms capable of automatically detecting anomalies in telemetry data.
