Forum on Quantum Science and Technology in Brussels

Industry / Press Release April 11, 2025

April 10, 2025 -- Over 60 leading quantum scientists, policymakers, and institutional representatives from both regions convened in Brussels for the EU-Korea Digital Partnership and Horizon Europe Researchers’ Networking Forum on Quantum Science and Technology on 9 and 10 April 2025.

This high-level event, jointly organised by the European Commission (DG CNECT), the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), and the Korea-Europe Quantum Science Technology Cooperation Centre, marked a crucial moment in strengthening the EU–Korea strategic cooperation on quantum technologies.

Under the EU-Korea Digital Partnership, both parties have organised a series of thematic workshops for researchers and innovators. The forum in Brussels focused on quantum computing and simulation, quantum communication and quantum sensing and metrology. It was a direct continuation of this track, providing an opportunity to align on research agendas, build new institutional bridges, and prepare the ground for EU-Korea research cooperation under Horizon Europe.

Quantum technologies are poised to reshape industries, national security, and scientific discovery. As we move toward a new era of computing power, secure communication, and ultra-precise sensing, quantum science and innovation are becoming strategic assets of global importance. Technological diplomacy and trusted international partnerships will be key to ensuring these technologies serve humanity’s best interests and reinforce European and Korean innovation capabilities.

The EU–Korea Digital Partnership, established in 2022, aims to foster joint leadership in critical technologies including semiconductors, AI, 5G/6G, HPC, and quantum technologies, underpinned by shared values such as openness, trust, and human-centric innovation.
