October 29, 2024 -- KPMG LLP, the US audit, tax and advisory firm, has joined the Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE) as it accelerates a quantum technology practice aimed at helping clients deploy the technology in enterprise applications.
“Quantum technology represents one of the biggest leaps forward in technology, and its potential for collaboration, research, and discovery cannot be overstated,” said Cliff Justice, KPMG national leader of Enterprise Innovation. “Working with the Chicago Quantum Exchange is critical to understanding how the technology can be used to solve business challenges, as well as help organizations future-proof their businesses.”
KPMG will work with the CQE to develop relationships and trainings that will support its work in the space.
“Quantum technology offers enormous potential for end users in a wide range of industries, and preparing for this shift will require many types of expertise,” said David Awschalom, the Liew Family Professor in Molecular Engineering and Physics at the University of Chicago and the director of the Chicago Quantum Exchange. “We are excited to welcome KPMG’s expertise into the CQE community, and we look forward to working with them as they grow a practice that will accelerate industry adoption and put us closer to developing quantum innovation solutions to critical challenges.”
The firm’s practice, led by its Chicago-based enterprise innovation and market intelligence team, is focused on helping clients leverage quantum technology advantages such as improved processes in finance, supply chain, and portfolio management while mitigating potential disruptions as quantum computing reaches practical application.
“Working with the Chicago Quantum Exchange is key to opening new business use cases for quantum technology in various sectors including healthcare, finance, energy, cybersecurity, and more,” said Travis Hunter Jr., KPMG Chicago Office Managing Partner. “Through our work with the CQE, we aim to help develop the technology responsibly as well as play a key role in cementing Chicago's position as a premier hub for the quantum economy."
