Quantum Leap in AI: Sparrow Quantum’s Chip at the Core of ORCA Computing’s PT-2 System
Sparrow Quantum is proud to announce its role as the chip provider for ORCA Computing’s newly launched PT-2 quantum computing system, marking a significant leap forward in generative AI and quantum-enhanced machine learning. This scalable, high-performance solution is designed for seamless integration across sectors, from advanced research to high-performance computing applications.
ORCA Computing’s first-generation system, the PT-1, is one of the most widely adopted quantum computers around the globe. Its successor, the PT-2, will reach new heights in computational power, thanks in part to Sparrow Quantum’s deterministic photon chip technology. With this enhancement, the PT-2 is estimated to be 4,000 times more powerful, establishing a clear path toward quantum advantage in ORCA’s next-generation systems.
“The PT-2 represents a breakthrough in quantum-powered AI, delivering a scalable solution that can drive real-world applications and open new doors in critical industries,” said Richard Murray, Co-founder and CEO of ORCA Computing. “Our partnership with Sparrow Quantum has been instrumental in achieving the performance needed for this next-generation system.”
Leveraging Sparrow Quantum’s cutting-edge chip technology, ORCA’s PT-2 system is set to tackle complex computational challenges.
“Our collaboration with ORCA Computing highlights the advanced capabilities of Sparrow Quantum’s chip technology and demonstrates the real impact of quantum solutions. The PT-2 system exemplifies how quantum-driven computing can meet diverse industry demands with unmatched performance and efficiency,” says Peter Lodahl, Professor, Founder, and Chief Quantum Officer at Sparrow Quantum.
By combining its quantum computing capabilities with artificial intelligence, it brings a powerful computational tool to life. In healthcare and biotechnology, PT-2 promises transformative advancements, accelerating therapeutic discovery and enabling new applications. Institutions like the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) are already exploring these possibilities, using quantum-enhanced generative AI to expedite peptide discovery for faster vaccine development—a significant milestone in real-world medical innovation with quantum technology.
Danish institutions like Copenhagen University Hospital, Rigshospitalet, also recognize the promise of the ORCA PT-2 system. “Combining quantum computing power with artificial intelligence holds great potential to advance diagnostics and treatment in healthcare,” says PET/MRI Physicist Thomas Lund Andersen from Rigshospitalet. “Access to a PT-2 would enable us to explore quantum-enhanced machine learning methods to reduce patient radiation exposure without compromising image quality – an exciting opportunity for enhancing both healthcare quality and patient safety.”
As an NVIDIA partner, ORCA Computing’s PT-2 system, featuring Sparrow Quantum’s chip, integrates seamlessly with high-performance computing infrastructure, allowing organizations to harness quantum computing power without requiring specialized facilities.
