Unveiling of the QSea I Quantum Computing Demonstrator
On May 30th 2024, together with our partners NXP Semiconductors and eleQtron GmbH, we presented the first full-stack, ion-trap quantum computing demonstrator developed entirely in Germany.
The QSea I device was commissioned by the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative and will be made available to companies and research teams, for future applications including climate modelling, global logistics and materials development. It includes eleQtron’s MAGIC hardware, the ParityQC Architecture and NXP’s chip design, which will be combined into a modular and scalable quantum computer in QSea II.
We were truly honoured about the attendance of very special guests to mark this occasion: the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the First Mayor of Hamburg Peter Tschentscher, DLR CEO Dr. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla and the Commissioner of BMWK for the Digital Economy and Start-ups Dr. Anna Christmann. Representing the 3 consortium partners were Lars Reger (NXP), Dr. Christian Piltz (eleQtron) and Dr. Christian Ertler (ParityQC).
