SSIA and PhotonDelta Establish Strategic Partnership to Advance Photonic Semiconductor Collaboration
May 20 2025 -- The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) and PhotonDelta Foundation have formalised a strategic partnership to advance collaboration in photonic integrated circuits (PICs), building on the complementary capabilities of the semiconductor and Integrated Photonics ecosystems in Singapore and the Netherlands.
The agreement provides a framework to facilitate technical knowledge exchange, promote joint innovation efforts, and support industry access to emerging market opportunities. Both organisations will work closely to connect companies, research institutions, and ecosystem stakeholders to strengthen cross-border cooperation in developing integrated photonic technologies.
“We are delighted to partner with PhotonDelta to strengthen collaboration on photonic integrated circuits between Singapore and the Netherlands,” said Ang Wee Seng, Executive Director of SSIA. “Singapore offers deep expertise in manufacturing and innovation across the full semiconductor value chain, while the Netherlands brings significant strengths in photonic chip technologies through strong research-industry linkages. Together, our ecosystems are well-positioned to accelerate photonic chip innovation and commercialisation.”
“The innovation mission to Singapore reflects the growing interest from our ecosystem to explore opportunities for collaboration with Singapore in the field of integrated photonics. We attach great value to the cooperation with SSIA as it supports our mission to accelerate the development and application of photonic chip technology in the world. We are actively seeking international partnerships to scale production, co-develop applications, and collaborate on heterogeneous integration, testing and packaging.” Says Eelko Brinkhoff, CEO PhotonDelta.
Moving forward, SSIA and PhotonDelta will jointly explore opportunities to convene key stakeholders, support participation in industry events, and initiate technical engagements that contribute to the growth and competitiveness of the broader integrated photonics landscape. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to long-term ecosystem development and reinforces the strategic importance of cross-border partnerships in driving leading-edge semiconductor capabilities.
