ID Quantique Launches the ID281 Pro
4th March 2024 -- Introducing the ID281 Pro SNSPD system: a compact and autonomous rack-mounted Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detector System to enable high-performance detection in quantum platforms.
The ID281 Pro is conceived to bring simplicity, reliability and portability to high-performance Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors (SNSPD). It is designed to be integrated in quantum platforms for photonic quantum computing, quantum communication systems, and for any application requiring compactness to be at the forefront of R&D and enable operational use.

The new ID281 Pro packs IDQ’s industry-leading SNSPD technology into an 8U high rack-mount system optimized for fully autonomous 24/7 continuous operation. Its streamlined design contains all the necessary control electronics with an intuitive web interface. Conceived to allow a quick setup, the ID281 Pro represents a major leap forward in ease-of-use while retaining the performance that has made IDQ a world-leading SNSPD provider.
The ID281 Pro’s rack-mount form factor, its robustness and reliability will simplify the integration of the detection system in optical quantum computing platforms and in quantum communication (and Quantum Key Distribution) systems in server-type of environments. It will also save precious space in laboratories, and it can also now easily find a place in medical and imaging laboratories for whom ease-of-use is of paramount importance. Its autonomous operation enables continuous stable performance without user intervention.
The ID281 Pro cryogenic system can host up to 16 superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors which can be selected from the comprehensive range of detectors developed and manufactured by ID Quantique. This includes the most advanced photon-number resolving detectors for quantum computing, as well as ultrafast detectors for ultra-high-speed quantum communication (up to GHz rates). IDQ’s field-proven SNSPD technology offers high detection efficiencies across a broad optical spectrum along with ultra-low dark counts, low timing jitter, fast recovery times, and proven reliability even in demanding environments – capabilities that have made IDQ the leader in SNSPD innovation.
