Industry / Press Release December 9, 2025

BOULDER, Colo., December 08, 2025 -- Infleqtion (the “Company”), a global leader in neutral atom-based quantum technology, announced the appointment of Karl Pendergast as Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Quantum Sensing Solutions Group. Pendergast brings nearly four decades of experience in aerospace and defense, with a proven track record of driving strategic growth and operational excellence across civil, defense and commercial markets. Pendergast is joining Infleqtion after the company announced in September that it plans to go public through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp X (“Churchill X”), a special purpose acquisition company.

Pendergast’s distinguished career spans leadership roles at industry giants including Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Northrop Grumman and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, as well as executive positions at innovative technology firms. Most recently, he served as Principal at Rocinante Partners, where he provided strategic consulting in engineering, program execution, and business operations.

Pendergast’s technical foundation is rooted in space mission systems and electro-optical system design and testing, with deep experience in systems engineering, dynamics and controls engineering. His contributions have advanced critical missions in areas including deep space exploration, directed energy weapon systems, space domain awareness, and numerous other RDT&E and operational technical means.

“Karl has led the development of some of the most advanced sensing and space systems in the world,” said Matt Kinsella, CEO of Infleqtion. “His leadership arrives as demand for quantum sensing grows and Infleqtion accelerates deployment into defense, national security, aerospace, and commercial markets. Karl brings the technical depth and operational discipline needed to scale this business, and his experience delivering mission-critical systems positions us to deliver quantum sensing solutions that meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.”

“Quantum sensing is poised to shape the future of national security, aerospace and critical infrastructure, and Infleqtion is at the forefront of that transition,” said Pendergast. “I’m thrilled to join the company as these systems begin field deployment and key programs advance toward operational use. I look forward to applying my experience delivering mission-critical technologies and complex sensing solutions to support Infleqtion’s next stage of growth.”

Pendergast holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Infleqtion’s product portfolio includes quantum computers, quantum optical clocks, RF receivers, and inertial sensors, all engineered for real-world deployment and optimized with Infleqtion’s proprietary software. These systems are already in use by the U.S. Department of War, NASA, and the U.K. government, and also form elements of multiple collaborations with NVIDIA.
