Scientists Have Proposed a New Method to Monitor the Growth of Quantum Dots Without Affecting QD Synthesis

Recently, a research team composed of researchers from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and Kiel University in Germany collaborated to propose a new method for monitoring the formation of quantum dots. In this study, the team used cadmium telluride as a model system and controlled nanoparticle growth in a heated aqueous solution via in situ luminescence analysis. The technique enables scientists to see what is happening in the solution in real time without affecting QD synthesis so that they can monitor crystal growth by observing the color (wavelength) of the light emitted.
