University of Innsbruck Researchers Achieve Breakthrough in Quantum Communication

A research team at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, has made a significant breakthrough in the field of quantum communication. By using a new method that involves trapping three calcium ions in an optical cavity and exciting them to emit entangled photons, the team has successfully increased the number of photons sent to three at a time. This doubles the success rate for long-distance communication compared to the previous method of sending one photon at a time.
