Innolume Expands Quantum Dot Manufacturing With New Veeco GEN2000 MBE System

Industry July 27, 2026

July 20, 2026 -- Innolume has placed an order for a new Veeco GEN2000® Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) system to further expand its epitaxial manufacturing platform and support growing demand for gallium arsenide (GaAs)-based quantum dot photonic products for silicon photonics, next-generation optical transceivers, AI infrastructure and cloud data centers.

The additional MBE capacity will strengthen Innolume's technology platform and support the development and production of high-performance quantum dot photonic devices with excellent temperature stability, low power consumption and long-term reliability.

From epitaxy to commercial products

Innolume develops proprietary quantum dot technologies and manufactures commercial photonic products, including DFB lasers, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), comb lasers and other GaAs-based devices.

Operating a vertically integrated manufacturing platform in Dortmund enables Innolume to control epitaxial structures, device design, wafer processing, coating, packaging and product quality from epitaxy through commercial products. This integrated approach accelerates technology development, supports efficient manufacturing and enables the rapid transfer of new products into scalable production.

Expanding manufacturing capabilities and capacity

In addition, Innolume is implementing Veeco's SPECTOR® ion beam deposition system to further expand its in-house capabilities for high-performance anti-reflection (AR) and high-reflection (HR) laser facet coatings, providing greater manufacturing flexibility and supporting future production growth.

The Veeco GEN2000 investment complements Innolume's long-term manufacturing strategy. In parallel, the company is preparing for the installation of two Riber MBE6000 production reactors, scheduled for commissioning in Q4 2026. Together, these investments will further expand Innolume's 6-inch GaAs epitaxial production capacity while diversifying the company's MBE equipment base.
