QuantCAD LLC, a physics start-up operating in Iowa City, IA and Chicago, IL, was selected by NASA to advance quantum sensing with a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract. NASA plans to use the quantum sensor developed by QuantCAD to investigate the origins of water on exoplanets.

The European Quantum Flagship Initiative announced that the Ariane 6 carrier rocket was successfully launched a few days ago, carrying the advanced Diamond Quantum Magnetometer developed by its project AMADEUS, which can detect magnetic fields with incredible sensitivity. This device, named Oscar-Qube Plus, is a miniature quantum magnetic field sensor. Its first-generation version was launched to the International Space Station in August 2021 for scientific research.

A research team led by academician DU Jiangfeng and Prof. RONG Xing from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), in collaboration with Professor Jiao Man from Zhejiang University, has utilized solid-state spin quantum sensors to scrutinize exotic spin-spin-velocity-dependent interactions (SSIVDs) at short force ranges, reporting new experimental results between electron spins. This work has been published in Physical Review Letters.
