Industry / Press Release September 13, 2024

TYSONS, Virginia. September 11, 2024 -- The Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative (CQC) is proud to announce its participation in the newly launched QllianSE initiative, unveiled at the 2024 Quantum World Congress. QllianSE is set to establish the Southeastern United States as a major hub for quantum technology, focusing on building a people-based quantum ecosystem to support economic growth, technological innovation, and equitable access to quantum advancements.

QllianSE is designed to unify efforts across the Southeast, promoting collaboration among quantum research institutions, innovative technology companies, and forward-thinking policymakers. While many initiatives emphasize hardware and software, QllianSE’s focus is on “peopleware”—developing the talent necessary to lead the quantum revolution in the region.

“The Southeast is at a pivotal moment to lead in the quantum revolution,” said Joe Queenan, Executive Director of South Carolina Quantum. “Through QllianSE, we’re not just building quantum expertise, we’re laying the foundation for sustained economic growth and innovation. This collaboration ensures that the benefits of quantum technology are shared equitably across the region.”

QllianSE has already garnered significant support from leading institutions like North Carolina State University, Duke, Wake Forest, IonQ, and Pasqal, creating a diverse and inclusive network spanning multiple states, industries, and academic disciplines. These partnerships underscore the region's commitment to becoming a leader in quantum technology.

“The success of quantum ecosystems depends on uniting diverse partnerships with a shared goal,” said Charlie Brock, CEO of CQC. “CQC is thrilled to join QllianSE and other Southeastern organizations to drive economic and workforce development while tackling national challenges.”

Keith Alan Clark, President of Qubitekk, emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative for the Southeast, noting that “Qubitekk is excited to join QllianSE and advance quantum technologies with its partners across the region.”

QllianSE’s approach includes convening regular meetings among its members to share best practices, explore funding opportunities, and work on collaborative projects that push the boundaries of quantum research and development. The consortium is committed to fostering a skilled workforce, promoting educational initiatives, and supporting startups in the quantum space.

Although centered in the Southeast, QllianSE’s impact will extend beyond the region, positioning it as a leader in the global quantum market. The initiative’s long-term vision includes not only advancing research in quantum science but also translating these advancements into tangible economic opportunities and improved quality of life for communities across the Southeast.
