French Quantum Firm Quobly Joins CSC, Opens Canadian Subsidiary in Sherbrooke

Industry April 22, 2026

Sherbrooke, Quebec, April 14, 2026 -- Quobly, a French quantum computing company building silicon-based quantum systems designed for scalable, fault-tolerant operation and deployment in standard data centres, has joined Canada’s Semiconductor Council (CSC) as its newest member. The announcement follows a partnership development mission to France by CSC Managing Director Paul Slaby, and coincides with Quobly opening a Canadian subsidiary in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

The Sherbrooke office positions Quobly at the centre of one of Canada’s most concentrated clusters of quantum expertise. The company selected the location for its depth in silicon spin qubit research, advanced manufacturing capabilities, cryogenic infrastructure, and proximity to Université de Sherbrooke, C2MI, and the DistriQ quantum innovation hub. Quobly plans to recruit approximately ten engineers and researchers over the next two to three years to support R&D, system integration, and collaborative projects aligned with its fault-tolerant quantum computing roadmap.

“Canada offers a strong alignment with our technology roadmap, combining leading research with advanced semiconductor and system capabilities,” said Nicolas Daval, Chief Engineering Officer at Quobly. “Sherbrooke provides a unique environment where silicon-based quantum technologies, cryogenics and integration expertise come together to support the transition from research to scalable, industrial systems.”

By joining CSC, Quobly will participate in working groups focused on quantum and advanced semiconductor manufacturing, contributing their expertise in silicon-based quantum chip fabrication using standard semiconductor processes to the collective industry positions CSC brings to federal and provincial governments on technology investment, talent, and international partnerships.

“Quobly’s arrival in Sherbrooke is the kind of signal that matters — a company choosing Canada because of the quality of what’s already here,” said Paul Slaby, Managing Director, CSC. “The quantum and semiconductor sectors are deeply intertwined, and having Quobly inside the council means their industrial perspective is part of every policy conversation we’re in.”
