Cybersecurity Veteran Malte Pollmann Joins Quside as Strategic Advisor
August 4, 2026 -- Barcelona, Spain (August 4th) – Quside, the Barcelona-based leader in quantum random number generation (QRNG), today announced that Malte Pollmann, former CEO of Utimaco, has joined the company as advisor to the management team. Malte Pollmann will support Quside with a strategic focus on scaling the business into industrial applications and on establishing the right go-to-market partners worldwide.
Pollmann is one of the most experienced executives in the global cryptography and hardware security industry. A member of Utimaco’s management board from 2008, he served as the company’s CEO from 2011 to 2019 and subsequently as Chief Strategy Officer. During his tenure he led Utimaco’s buy-out from the Sophos Group in 2013 and built the company into one of the world’s leading providers of hardware security modules (HSMs) and cryptographic key management, growing it to more than 500 employees worldwide. Today, Pollmann serves on several boards in the IT security sector and is an active mentor and investor in cybersecurity companies.
“Malte has spent two decades building and scaling the cryptographic infrastructure that the world’s most demanding industries rely on, from financial services to telecommunications and critical infrastructure. Very few people combine his depth in applied cryptography with his track record of taking security hardware to global markets. Having him at our side as we scale Quside into industrial applications is a privilege for the company, our partners and our customers.” — Dr. Carlos Abellan, Co-founder and CEO, Quside
“In all my years in the worldwide crypto business, one lesson has proven itself again and again: every security architecture is only as strong as the quality of the randomness underneath it, and that is precisely where most systems are still weakest. What convinced me about Quside is that their photonic QRNG technology is a genuine USP: verifiable quantum entropy, produced at speed, and manufacturable at scale on standard semiconductor processes. This is not a lab experiment, it is the entropy foundation the post-quantum era will be built on. I am excited to help the management team take this technology into industrial applications around the globe.” — Malte Pollmann, Advisor to the Management, Quside
The appointment comes at a time of accelerating demand for quantum-safe security. With the NIST post-quantum cryptography standards finalized and new regulatory requirements emerging across industries, verifiable high-quality entropy remains a foundational requirement for secure systems, from data centers and telecommunications to IoT and defense applications. Quside’s QRNG technology and hardware platforms are already deployed with leading technology partners and infrastructure providers.
