Quantum Industry Canada Welcomes Key Players Across the Country’s Quantum Value Chain

Industry / Press Release December 11, 2024

December 09, 2024 -- Quantum Industry Canada (QIC), the national industry-led consortium dedicated to advancing Canada’s quantum technology sector, announced today the addition of three organizations that strengthen crucial links in Canada’s quantum value chain. ACA TMetrix, the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Quantum Computing, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics bring distinct capabilities that enrich Canada’s quantum landscape and expand QIC’s collaborative reach.

Canada stands among global quantum leaders, with the world’s second-highest concentration of quantum SMEs, thanks to its vibrant ecosystem of research institutes, technology enablers, and commercial innovators. These latest additions to the QIC network strengthen the bridges between scientific discovery, talent development, and market applications.

More about the newest additions to the QIC community:

  • ACA TMetrix provides a broad range of enabling instrumentation for quantum research and development across commercial and academic sectors.
  • Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) is a scientific research institute of the University of Waterloo with a multidisciplinary approach to advancing the field of quantum information at the highest international level to discover and develop powerful new quantum technologies that will drive future economies.
  • Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is a leading centre for scientific research, training, and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics. Located in Waterloo, Ontario, its mission is to advance our understanding of the universe at the most fundamental level, stimulating the breakthroughs that could transform our future.

“A robust quantum ecosystem requires excellence across the entire value chain,” explained Lisa Lambert, QIC’s Chief Executive Officer. “From foundational research and talent development to enabling technologies and commercialization, each component is critical. We are delighted to welcome these organizations, whose distinct contributions will help strengthen Canada’s comprehensive quantum capabilities.”
