Delft, The Netherlands: Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) researchers at TU Delft, QuTech, University of Innsbruck, INRIA and CNRS recently announced the creation of the first operating system designed for quantum networks: QNodeOS. The research, published in Nature, marks a major step forward in transforming quantum networking from a theoretical concept to a practical technology that could revolutionize the future of the internet.

QuantWare, the quantum computing company building technology to create the world’s most powerful quantum processors, has raised a €20 million Series A round.

The “Photonic Technologies” call is now open for applications. NWO and the PhotonDelta Foundation want to further stimulate early-stage research on photonic technologies in this way. This will ultimately allow groundbreaking photonic materials, photonic chips, devices and systems to be delivered. A total of 7 million euro is financed by PhotonDelta.

Next-generation communications security tech company Q*Bird has made a significant step forward in quantum networking, with the creation of technology to allow multiple users to set up a quantum link simultaneously.

This week, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that the National Growth Fund plan PhotonDelta will contribute €53.8 million to the PIXEurope pilot line that will be built in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands will have a European pilot plant for photonic chips. This future generation of chips will process information with light instead of electrons. A total of 380 million euros in public investment has been made available for this project by Europe and eleven participating countries, which participate in the Chips Joint Undertaking for this project. Twente will receive a significant share, a mega-boost for chip technology in Twente.

Today, at the EuroHPC User Day 2024 in Amsterdam, the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking announced the selection of SURF to host and operate a new European quantum computer, in coordination with QuantumDelta NL. The system will be located at the Amsterdam Science Park and integrated into the Dutch national supercomputer, Snellius.

Quantum Delta NL (QDNL), the Netherlands' national ecosystem for excellence in quantum innovation, today announces that it has secured a €273 million investment from The National Growth Fund (NGF) as part of the third phase of the QDNL programme. This brings the total amount of funding awarded to QDNL to €615 million. The Dutch government's decision to support this initiative highlights their commitment to a shared vision: driving quantum innovation forward and creating sustainable economic growth.
