Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh Reviews Progress of National Quantum Mission
April 08, 2026 -- Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today reviewed the progress of the National Quantum Mission, highlighting a major milestone in India’s quantum technology ambitions. Briefing the Minister, officials said a one thousand kilometre quantum communication network, one of the longest in the world, has been successfully demonstrated within less than two years of the mission’s launch.
Developed using indigenous technology by a startup, the achievement marks significant progress toward the mission’s target of two thousand kilometres over eight years. Dr. Singh emphasised transparency, structured evaluation and wider outreach to boost participation. He called for better communication of India’s scientific achievements to strengthen its position in emerging technologies like quantum computing, biotechnology and advanced communications.
