Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Quantinuum Partner to Advance Quantum Computing in Qatar
November 12, 2024 -- Quantinuum, the world’s largest integrated quantum computing company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Science and Engineering (CSE).
The College’s Qatar Center for Quantum Computing (QC2) will identify use cases in quantum chemistry, quantum machine learning, AI, and quantum-augmented cybersecurity.QC2 is the first Qatar-based quantum research center dedicated to advancing theoretical and experimental research across various areas of quantum computing.
“We are excited to partner with HBKU as their quantum program scales new heights,” said Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President & CEO of Quantinuum. “The university’s research expertise in biomedical, materials science, and AI aligns perfectly with our long-term vision and is a great match with our industry-leading, full-stack quantum computing technology.”
The QC2 team will work with Quantinuum to increase their understanding of and experience with quantum software, algorithms and hardware via remote access to Quantinuum’s latest quantum computing hardware.
“Our partnership with Quantinuum is part of our larger goal to establish a strong quantum ecosystem in our country, complete with high-impact research to address challenges on a local and global scale,” said Dr. Saif Al-Kuwari, Director, QC2.
Earlier this year, Quantinuum announced partnerships with STFC Hartree Center, Singapore’s National Quantum Office, and other scientific research agencies.
