QpiAI and Singapore Management University Sign Strategic MOU To Advance Quantum-AI Innovation, Financial Applications, and Talent Development
Singapore — October 28, 2026 -- QpiAI, a leader in full-stack quantum computing and AI integration, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Management University (SMU). The two-year collaboration will promote quantum computing research, industry adoption, commercialisation, and workforce development across Singapore and the wider Asian region.
The partnership brings together QpiAI's integrated quantum hardware, software, and artificial intelligence capabilities with SMU's academic expertise and industry relationships. The collaboration will focus on translating quantum research into practical applications for financial services, capital markets, logistics, and smart city operations.
SMU becomes the first Institute of Higher Learning in Singapore to partner with QpiAI for direct access to its full-stack quantum infrastructure. Researchers and students will be able to experiment with the Kaveri 64-qubit quantum computer and develop applications using the QpiAI QCloud platform.
QpiAI's quantum infrastructure in Bengaluru, India, integrates quantum processing capabilities with classical high-performance computing systems. Through its Quantum Computer-as-a-Service (QCaaS) model, the company is extending access to these technologies for research institutions and enterprise partners.
Expanding Access to Quantum Computing
Access to physical quantum computing infrastructure remains limited in Singapore. The partnership will provide SMU researchers and students with opportunities to test quantum algorithms, explore hybrid quantum-classical optimisation, and investigate post-quantum cybersecurity applications using real quantum hardware.
Professor Tan Ah Hwee, Dean of SMU's School of Computing and Information Systems, highlighted how access to QpiAI's hardware and integrated cloud platform will expand the university's research capabilities. The platform will also make quantum experimentation more accessible to students across computing, business, finance, and engineering.
Building Quantum Talent for Banking and Financial Services
Quantum computing has emerging applications in financial services, particularly in computationally intensive processes such as Monte Carlo simulations for derivatives pricing, risk modelling, and the estimation of rare financial events.
The financial sector also faces a growing need to prepare its cybersecurity infrastructure for the post-quantum era. SMU Associate Professor Paul Griffin, whose research spans financial technology, quantum algorithms, and quantitative risk modelling, emphasised the importance of developing professionals who combine quantum knowledge with practical expertise in cybersecurity, data science, optimisation, and high-performance computing.

Through joint training and industry engagement, QpiAI and SMU aim to establish a pipeline of professionals capable of applying quantum computing to real-world challenges in finance and cybersecurity. The initiative will connect academic research with the technical and commercial needs of the financial services industry.
Dr. Nagendra Nagaraja, Founder, CEO, and Chairman of QpiAI, described Singapore as an important regional centre where finance, logistics, and advanced research converge. He emphasised that providing SMU with access to Kaveri and QCloud will help researchers, students, and enterprises investigate practical applications in banking, risk management, and urban systems while strengthening technological cooperation between India and Singapore.
Key Pillars of Collaboration
The strategic MOU establishes four primary areas of collaboration between QpiAI and Singapore Management University:
- Financial and Industry Applications: Developing enterprise-oriented quantum solutions for banking, fintech, capital markets, supply chain logistics, smart cities, and urban systems.
- Advanced Quantum-AI Research: Jointly exploring quantum algorithms, quantum machine learning, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum-safe cybersecurity technologies.
- Talent Development and Education: Supporting Singapore's quantum workforce through specialised workshops, professional certifications, joint training programmes, and practical access to QCloud.
- Innovation Ecosystem Expansion: Encouraging startup innovation, academic collaboration, and participation in national and international quantum technology initiatives.
Advancing Financial and Industry Applications
The collaboration will support SMU research in two commercially relevant domains. In financial technology and banking, researchers will investigate quantum approaches to fraud detection, portfolio optimisation, and risk management.
In operations and supply chain management, the research will address complex routing challenges, multi-agent resource allocation, and smart urban mobility. These activities will help evaluate where quantum and hybrid quantum-classical technologies can deliver practical business value.
Both organisations will also explore executive education and continuing education and training (CET) programmes focused on Quantum AI for Finance. Proposed initiatives include accessible, no-code laboratories that allow participants to experiment with quantum-enabled business applications.
Cody Kamin, Head of Singapore for QpiAI, highlighted the partnership's emphasis on making quantum computing useful for business. By combining SMU's expertise in finance, logistics, and urban systems with QpiAI's technology platform, the initiative aims to provide hands-on opportunities for researchers, students, and enterprises while supporting wider industry adoption.
Aligning National and Bilateral Deep-Tech Priorities
The partnership aligns with Singapore's National Quantum Strategy, supporting scientific research, enterprise collaboration, and quantum workforce development. It also reinforces growing technological cooperation between Singapore and India in critical and emerging technologies.
By connecting QpiAI's quantum technologies, developed within India's expanding quantum innovation ecosystem, with Singapore's research institutions and financial industry, the collaboration seeks to accelerate the development and adoption of practical quantum-AI solutions.
