CU Boulder Wins $20M to Lead National Quantum Nanofab Facility

June 20, 2024
The U.S. National Science Foundation today announced a $20 million grant to CU Boulder to launch a facility known as the National Quantum Nanofab (NQN). In this facility, Colorado researchers and quantum specialists from around the country will be able to design and build incredibly small devices that tap into the world of atoms and photons—the tiny packets of energy that make up light.

ETSI Releases World’s First Protection Profile for QKD

ETSI Releases World’s First Protection Profile for QKD

February 19, 2024
This constitutes a major milestone on the path to the certification of QKD products. The Protection Profile was developed within the framework of the ETSI Industry Specification Group ISG-QKD, to which ID Quantique has contributed since its inception in 2008. The Protection Profile has subsequently been fully validated by the SGS evaluation lab in Graz, and the evaluation has been certified by the German certification body BSI.

Researchers Establish New Basis for Quantum Sensing and Communication

Researchers Establish New Basis for Quantum Sensing and Communication

March 17, 2025
Sensing and communication systems based on quantum-mechanical phenomena can greatly outperform today’s systems, in terms of accuracy and reliability, and are considered a pivotal part of developing next-generation networks. Developing quantum information and decision systems that come close to meeting the theoretical quantum advantages has been a longstanding challenge. Now, a team of researchers at MIT and the University of Ferrara (UniFe) in Italy has developed a framework that could open up new ways of pushing such quantum systems all the way to their fundamental limits.
