Luxquanta Partnerships With Numana’s and Joins Kirq Quantum Testbed
Barcelona, October 15, 2026 -- Luxquanta is joining Numana’s Kirq multi-vendor testbed, marking its entry into Canada through Quebec’s innovation ecosystem and giving the region access to its Quantum Key Distribution technology.
Luxquanta partners with Numana to provide its continuous-variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD) system, commercially named Nova lq®, on Kirq— Canada’s first open, multi-vendor quantum-safe communication testbed. Kirq has more than $10 million in joint funding from the governments of Quebec and Canada and already operates from the DistriQ Quantum Innovation Zone in Sherbrooke, with expansion to Montreal and Quebec City on fiber provided by Bell, Telus, and Ciena.
Numana, the not-for-profit technology macro-accelerator behind Quebec’s innovation ecosystem, built and operates Kirq as one of its high-impact projects, moving from lab to real-world adoption and giving operators a live network to evaluate quantum-safe communications before committing.
“We are extremely aligned with Numana’s values and mission. Our contribution to the Kirq testbed will allow any interested user to test our flagship QKD system in a live network, with real operators and real conditions, to prove that quantum-safe communication can run on the fibre that’s already in the ground.”
— says Victor Gomis, Director of Business Development at Luxquanta.
“It’s also our door into Canada. For us going alongside Numana means partnering with the ecosystem accelerator that is driving quantum-safe deployment across the region.”
Nova lq® joins Kirq’s multi-vendor environment alongside other QKD and quantum-safe technology providers, contributing to the shared, ecosystem-driven testing ground Numana’s accelerator model is built to create. It gives operators a complementary continuous-variable technology to deploy on the same Kirq open infrastructure.
At the product level, Nova lq® uses the quantum properties of light to generate and distribute a symmetric encryption key between two endpoints, protecting critical data in transit against quantum computer attacks.
It uses the same coherent-detection components already used in modern optical networks, so it installs on the fiber operators already run rather than requiring a dedicated network. Kirq gives Canadian operators, enterprises, and public-sector organizations a live environment to test it under real operating conditions.
Luxquanta’s collaboration with Numana aims to drive the mass adoption of quantum-safe communication technologies, so the region is prepared and secured for the coming quantum era. Luxquanta is contributing its CV-QKD technology to Kirq, giving operators, enterprises, and public-sector organizations across Canada an additional option to test quantum-safe communication before committing.
