LuxQuanta Launches Second Generation of QKD System, NOVA LQ, at MWC 2025

Barcelona, April 02, 2025 -- LuxQuanta has been awarded with the Salvà i Campillo Award for Entrepreneurship at the 30th edition of La Nit de les Telecomunicacions i la Informàtica, one of the most prestigious annual events in Catalonia’s digital and telecommunications sectors.

Organized by Telecos.cat and COEINF (Col·legi Oficial d’Enginyeria en Informàtica de Catalunya), the event took place at the Auditori de Barcelona and brought together more than 1,000 professionals, academics, and public officials, including: Albert Dalmau (Minister of the Presidency), Matías González (Secretary General of Telecommunications), and Jordi Valls (Deputy Mayor of Barcelona). The night celebrated the individuals, companies, and organizations leading the technological transformation of Catalonia, a region where the digital economy now represents 10% of GDP and is home to over 16,000 tech companies.

Recognition for Quantum Innovation Made in Catalonia

LuxQuanta received the award for its pioneering work in quantum cryptography. Founded in May 2021 as a spin-off from the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), the company designs and develops Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems that integrate naturally into existing optical fiber networks, providing a robust layer of future-proof security. Since launching production in 2023, LuxQuanta has scaled rapidly, securing contracts with major telecom operators and generating million-euro revenues. This award acknowledges LuxQuanta’s role in positioning Catalonia at the forefront of quantum-secure communications in Europe.
