QunaSys Raises JPY 1.7 Billion in Series B2 Funding
QunaSys, Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; CEO: Tennin Yan), a leader in quantum computing algorithms and software development, has successfully raised JPY 1.7 billion in Series B2 funding. The round was led by Mirai Creation Fund III managed by SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President & CEO: Shuhei Abe), with additional participation from funds managed or co-managed by JIC Venture Growth Investments (VGF I), Fujitsu Ventures (Fujitsu Ventures Fund LLC), Mitsubishi Electric (ME Innovation Fund), Osaka University Venture Capital (OUVC No.2 Fund), KDDI (KDDI Open Innovation Fund III), and Kyocera (KVIF-I), and Zeon. QunaSys has signed a new JPY 500 million commitment line agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and has agreed with KDDI and Kyocera to pursue capital and business partnerships alongside this fundraising.
Freezing Electronics to Control Diamond Spin Qubits
Freezing Electronics to Control Diamond Spin Qubits
Researchers from Fujitsu and QuTech have developed new and ultra-cold electronic circuits to control diamond-based quantum bits. As a result of their joint research project, it becomes possible to build larger quantum computers, through overcoming the ‘wiring bottleneck’, while maintaining high quality performance. In fact, both the quantum bits and the control electronics can be conveniently operated in a single compact cryogenic refrigerator. The researchers publish their results at IEEE’s ISSCC.

Fujitsu and QuTech Realize High-Precision Quantum Gates
Fujitsu and QuTech Realize High-Precision Quantum Gates
Fujitsu Limited today announced the world’s first demonstration of a complete universal quantum gate set for diamond spin qubits with an error probability below 0.1%, achieving a fidelity among the highest reported over all quantum hardware technologies. This collaboration with QuTech, a leading quantum technology research institute of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), marks an important step for the diamond spin method towards carrying out quantum error correction and realizing practical quantum computing. The findings were published in Physical Review Applied on March 21, 2025.

PQShield Announces Participation in NEDO Program to Implement Post-Quantum Cryptography Across Japan
PQShield Announces Participation in NEDO Program to Implement Post-Quantum Cryptography Across Japan
PQShield, the cybersecurity company specializing in post-quantum cryptography (PQC), has joined the Cyber Research Consortium (CRC) in Japan to participate in its program with the Japanese government's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) to enhance Japan's defense against quantum-enabled cyber attacks. As a supporting member of the CRC, PQShield will design and deliver PQC protocols that can be implemented across Japan's technology supply chain, and contribute to the ongoing global PQC standardization process. NEDO is providing a funding grant to CRC to support this project.
